How do students feel about going back to school full time next year?

Ever since Covid-19 came along we’ve all gotten used to staying home and doing school online,
but next year will be different. They plan on having us go back to our regular schedule, which
consists of being at school 5 days a week and no shorter classes. I asked a few students how they
feel about going back and trying to have things go back to normal.

First, I interviewed Emma Hafner, a student at TJ.
Hailey: “How do you feel about things going back to normal next school year?”
Emma: “I’m excited to be able to play sports, see my friends and actually see who’s in my class
next year. Especially since it’s my last year at TJ, I’m glad I’ll get to experience my senior year as
normal as possible.”
Emma seems to want to enjoy senior year as much as possible before graduating.

Then, I interviewed Chinaza, another upcoming senior that attends TJ.
Hailey: “How do you feel about the plans for next year?”
Chinaza: “I’m happy about things going back to normal but I’m afraid that we’re rushing it a bit
because people are tired of masks and virtual learning, but overall it seems like a step towards
normalcy so I’m not fully against it.”
Even though “normalcy” is way different than it used to be, I’m glad Chinaza is looking at the
upside of things.

Then, the last person I interviewed was Izzy Shippey, yet another upcoming senior.
Hailey: “How do you feel about next year’s school plans?”
Izzy: “I feel fine about it, i’m excited to see my friends and maybe not have to wear masks or
social distance. I just feel like being back in school will be really weird.”

After interviewing these three seniors I can tell they’re pretty excited about the upcoming year, even
though things could possibly be weird and different now I can tell they don’t mind and can’t wait
for things to be normal again. It’s nice to know after everything we’ve been through this past
year, some students are still hopeful for change.
